Garbage and Recycling

The City of Lancaster is pleased to provide high-quality garbage and recycling collection services through its contractor, Town and Country Sanitation.

  • The maximum amount of household waste that can be put at the curb will be four (4) 35 gallon garbage bags.  There is no limit on recycling.
  • For scheduled collection days that fall on a holiday, or the day after a holiday, the pick up will occur one day later.
  • Click here for a route map.
  • Appliances and other large items will require a scheduled pick up.  Households disposing of an appliance or other large item must call Town & Country at (800) 626-1915 and pay for the collection in advance.  Residents may also purchase sticker at City Hall, at least four days in advance of their regular trash pick up day.  The fees for appliance/large item collection are shown here.
  • Households with large amounts of waste, such as move outs, which exceed the new limit, must rent a dumpster.  Also, construction debris is not considered household waste and must be placed in a dumpster at the occupant/homeowner’s expense.  Failure to do so will result in fines to the homeowner.

Recycling bins are available for pick up at City Hall.  There is no charge for the bins, but supplies are limited.

City of Lancaster Recycling Instructions:
