The Grant County Historial Society summits the following list of displays to be placed in the expanded Schriener Library. While these are suggested working titles they will provide you with the types of displays possible. The society has a large collection of artifacts that will enrich the display will also tell its "story" providing both visual and educational interest. The displays will be mounted in a professional manner in keeping with the new Library/Visiter Center concept.
It is estimated to mount the following exhibits a minimum space requirement of an area of 15' x 15' for each, or approximately 1,500 square feet, will be needed. If additional space becomes available these displays can easily be expanded to more fully tell their story. The listing is not necessarily in order of importance, something that is subject to personal interpretation. Grant County At War
Displays of Cival War, WWI, WWII artifacts and related memorabilia. Pleasant Ridge A collection of photographs, letters and miscellanious items pertaining to the Afro-American community that was located in Grant County. Historical Personages of Grant County Gov. Nelson Dewey, Maj. Roundtree, Dr. Cunningham's medical exhibit. Lancaster, County Seat Photographs and memorabilia depicting the city and its business. Items From The Attic Artifacts from the 19th and 20th Century depicting household items in common use at that time. Native Americans Artifacts from Native Americans who lived in this area. Local Communities An area reserved for rotating historical displays from communities in Grant County. The community or local historical society would provide for and mount a historical exhibit.
