Display Needs Assistance

The Grant County Historical Society's last three (3) significant collections of natural importance, the Cunningham Collection, the Military Collection, and the Pleasant Ridge Collection, supported by two other collections of local significance, all located in the Cunningham Museum. These collections are listed below with measurements given in Square Feet (SF).

Cunningham Collection

Dr. Wilson Cunningham was a medical doctor who practiced medicine in Platteville, Wisconsin during the first half of the 20th Century. This collection consists of his medical equipment and memorabilia. It includes such items as his medical equipment, photographs, plaques, a desk, bookcase, and two display cabinets.

Current Display Space: 7' X 10', 70 SF Needed Display Space: 15' x 15', 225 SF

Military Collection

The Military collection contains military items from the Civil War to Vietnam. It has four display cases filled with military weapons, clothing, and other paraphernalia, two small dressers, one trunk, multiple photographs, and a World War II Japanese Flag.

Current Display Space: 11' X 15', 165 SF Needed Display Space: 20' x 20', 400 SF

Pleasant Ridge Collection

The Pleasant Ridge Collection consists of items from the Black settlement in Beetown Township: hundreds of photographs, manuscripts, a wedding dress, trunks, a phonograph, and so forth.

Current Display Space: 12' X 17', 204 SF Needed Display Space: 15' x 20', 300 SF

Other Collections

The Grant County Historical Society has other materials of local significance displayed throughout the Cunningham Museum: Potosi memorabilia, clothes, furniture, photographs, local textiles, and tapestry. These items help tell the story of Grant County and would also need some display space.

  Needed Display Space: 20' x 20', 400 SF
  Total Display Space Needed for the Whole Project: 1,325 SF

Summery: Based on the above measurements and needs, the Grant County Historial Society would like to have display space that is in the range of 1,300 SF to 1,500 SF.
