Energy Independence Community
Lancaster, in partnership with the City of Platteville, is proud to be an Energy Independence Community, which means the City has set a goal of using 25% renewable energy by the 2025.
As part of the effort to achieve that goal, the City has purchased an electric utility vehicle for our Public Works Department to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, distributed compact fluorescent light bulbs to residents, installed high-efficiency boilers in City Hall, and retrofitted the Public Works garage with energy efficient lighting. The City will continue to work with Platteville to identify additional opportunities to achieve the 25X25 goal.
