Itinerary for the History Buff
While you visit Lancaster to see the beautiful Grant County Courthouse in the center of downtown, make sure you check out all the great historical pieces on the lawn, including the Blue Boy statue, Horse Waterer, first Civil War Monument, and Nelson Dewey’s statue. From here, venture over a couple of blocks to visit the Nelson Dewey grave site. Stop in at one of our great restaurants, Doolittle’s, Zippy’s, or Wood-N-Brush and Coffee, too!, all located on the Square, for a delicious lunch. On Tuesday and Thursday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. (or by appointment), walk half a block off the square and stroll through the amazing history at the Cunningham Museum. End your day relaxing with some pizza and ice cream at Happy Joe’s or visit our old fashioned A&W for a rootbeer float and coney dog.
